The N.F.L's Passer rating system explained


   For a FULL explanation,go to the NFL quarterback rating formula page

   The SHORT explanation,is to do the following...

note 1: if any figure is less than zero,then use zero.
note 2: if any figure is greater than 2.375,then use 2.375.
1. subtract 30 from the Passer's completion percentage,and divide by 20
2. divide the Passer's touchdown percentage by 5
3. subtract the Passer's intercept percentage from 9.5,and divide by 4
4. subtract 3 from the Passer's yards per attempt,and divide by 4
5. add those 4 things together,and divide by 0.06 - this gives you his rating
